Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

7.5 miles. hood route to legacy trail and back. I move a lot faster on the sidewalks. I need to get off the trails. I've been thinking about Chicago's "Beginnings" while running lately. https://youtu.be/lI-BMDnti4c 

Lots of construction going on out there today. Also, I found a small baseball bat while running so I picked it up and took it home from about 1.25 miles to go. I was the guy running with a bat today.

Then, when I got home I dropped off boy #2 at the boat ramp with his friend, and they took out the jonboat for 3 hours. His first time out there without me. By all accounts, everything went fine. They would have stayed out there longer, but a storm was coming. Kids showing common sense - Feels like I've already won the day.

I had a diverse playlist of songs that run through my head while I'm out there. Today was: The National Anthem by Radiohead, Closet Freak by Cee Lo, and The Underdog by Spoon. I guess the theme was cool and funky backing horn sounds.

7.75 miles. Hood Route to legacy trail over SWOM bridge and back. 82 deg., 72% hum., 72 d.p.

I had to make an emergency bathroom stop @ 2.5 miles in at a contruction site POP on the north side of Laurel road. After that I ran on the north side of laurel road for a bit. The people with houses backing up to laurel road on the north side have a bunch of jasmine along their back fences. My whole (12 year?) running career, I have been running on the south side of laurel road. On the south side of laurel road there are 3 wastewater lift stations. The difference in fragrance from one side of the road to another is striking.

About 100 yards into the run, a homeless couple were screaming profanities at each other in the middle of the sidewalk I was running on. I saw this coming and I decided to just cross the street and run on the non-sidewalked side of the street. Conflict avoidance. You would think the way I write about the homeless population here, that we have a problem like Venice CA. There's really not that many homeless here. They just like to have really loud arguments where I run.

3 on the trails. I just couldn't get it going today. But on the run - The county employees were spreading manure across the top 2 inches or so of the soccer fields. When I went around the corner to where the fields are, the smell was striking and overwhelming. So on my next lap, I was coming up on this couple I have seen out there walking many times, but I have never heard their voices. So I said - "Hey that smell is not me. It's the manure out there. Ha Ha." And the guy responds with the most Boston accent I have ever heard - "Nah. Dat's bahbcaht whizz." And then goes on to explain the fragrance differences between an entire soccer field, covered in manure, and "bahbcaht whizz." And then weirdly got kind of mad at me when I told him I thought it was the manure. He really wanted me to accept his expertise on this subject matter.
