Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

WELL, I SEE MY NAME ON THE ENTRY LIST, SO I GUESS IT'S OFFICIAL NOW! 2,000 miles of training, 3+ hours of racing, and I get in by 7 seconds! Holy Smokes!

Wow - awesome - congrats!!!!

I always think of all of those sacrifices whenever I put on my jacket. It makes it all worth it!

Thanks, Guys. I ran 0.3 seconds per mile faster than I had to at Steamtown. Ha!

Congratulations. I just looked at the website, apparently they are giving 30% of the slots to non-qualifiers (charities, etc.) -- I didn't realize it was so many.

From SlowJoe on Wed, Sep 25, 2013 at 18:54:54 from 66.69.93.8

Wow! Awesome news. Congratulations - you could have moonwalked the last few meters and still made it, no sweat!

From Matt Schreiber on Wed, Sep 25, 2013 at 21:44:17 from 66.17.102.185

Congrats man!! That's awesome you made it in!

From Tom K on Thu, Sep 26, 2013 at 07:12:27 from 174.58.4.250

Thanks, all. I feel like I'm getting interweb high fives for the same race twice. I slept 3 hours last night, so I expect today's run to be interesting. Spouse is already on the job of making plans for us. She sent me a balloon bag full of Boston-related stuff last night (Clam Chowder, Boston baked beans candy, Necco wafers, etc.). Everyone - "What is it, your birthday, or something?" Me - "No, I just got into the Boston Marathon today." Everyone - "Your wife sent you a gift just for signing up for a race?" Me - Sigh. ".... yes."

Derunzo, Since I just did the bare minimum to get in, you will know me by my 37 pieces of flair!

Congrats Tom! I am sure it was a long 10 days waiting for the news ... give thanks for your awesome supportive wife! :)
