Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

5.5 Miles. Hood Route. 48:54. 8:53 pace. 5:45 am start. 75d-100%h-75d.p. Great RUN! (). Blister on right "had-no-roast-beef" toe, police cars circling the neighborhood (filling my head with all kinds of "what-if's"), ran through clouds of gnats, hit my head on a low branch hard enough to knock my hat off, stopped to scratch the mosquito bites on my ankles 2x, passed a guy with questionable control of his dogs, you know, just a JOY to be out! Saw my brother walking to work afterwards. I walked/talked with him for a while, then ran the half mile back home. So THAT was a positive. It was good to catch up with him. I'm going to try to get something better out of this evening. It shouldn't be that difficult to do, with the bar being set so low this morning.

6:30 pm. I got 1 warm up lap in with Tommy at the track before the lightning started. Not a good day.

Wow, that was quite a run. The last time I hit a branch I got my forehead glued together after a trip to the emergency room. I did finish my run first, though, of course.

DerH, I knocked my dome in the first half mile. It was humbling to go back and pick up my hat. In other news:

I want to believe this is real, but there is nothing to back it up on the BAA website:

Fun run :-)

It may be hard to find a place to stay this year at Boston!

Well hopefully you are looking back at your run and laughing now. Sorry, but I am.

I had to share this with you.. My family and I were on our way home after heading out for ice cream tonight. Brayden saw a girl running and started telling us she wasn't running good. At ALL. He then proceeded to tell us she wasn't running like a human. I was thinking, wow - that's kind of harsh. Especially for my 7 year old to say. Natasha asked him what she was running like and he without a beat said "a cheetah".

Apparently that little talk him and I had about your article had left a pretty lasting impression on him. More of an impression than it did on his dad. :)

Awesome! Those little sponges! We were @ 200 meters into our run last night at the track when the lightning started. I told Tommy that we were going to finish this lap, and then that was it, so we might as well go fast for the rest of it. He yelled something kooky, like "TIME TO TURN ON THE GAS!" and then he took off. For a second I thought "Where did that come from?" That second gave him @ 20 yard lead. I couldn't catch him after that, and I was seriously trying. This glimpse of my future is bad. The boy is not a gracious winner. Everyone has heard about his victory, including the cashier at the 7-11.

I know...I stopped by the 7-11 here in San Marcos, Tx and they were talking about it too! :-(

Sponges they are.. What a quick Tommy! Needless to say Brayden's shocked me a few times when I try to "jog" next to him. I'm really surprised how quick kids can be. They're so small.

That gracious winner thing is funny. Looks like you can't LET him win at anything. If you're going to hear about it, it might as well be legit!
