Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

7 on the trails. 8:15 am start. It's still summer. First time on the trails since I was bit by a dog Friday. Anyhow, this guy I see out there - sometimes he's running, sometimes he's walking while dragging a tire, always shirtless, with a heart rate monitor, and lots of hair product. Well, he's got a friend with him today. For the most part, they are going in the opposite direction as me. (I go on a backwards loop every 4th lap, so I can keep count.) So this one time we passed each other (while they were walking, BTW), he says to his friend "We better get going. The old guy is getting faster." I yelled out "Hey, what the crap, man?!" Then he said something, but I was too far away to hear it. It's not like me and this guy are buds. Saying "good morning" to each other a couple of times is about the extent of our relationship.

Then I got to thinking of what was the most "old guy runner" thing I could say to this guy - "Back in my day, we didn't have any of your moisture wicking attire! Nah! We wore terry cloth - bath towel material - and we didn't complain when we got full body chafe from running! And we raced in converse all stars. You could get low tops or high tops. That was it - none of this fly vaporzoom nonsense."

I took your team. I took your girl. And now, I'm gonna take your HORT!
