Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

10.2 MI. Hood route to Legacy Trail to Colonia and back. 8:10 a.m. start. Very very hot and humid. 78 degrees? I think I figured out what caused my shin splint problem yesterday. It seems the right pedal on my bicycle is a bit out of alignment. I believe this caused the problem. It sure took me out of the game yesterday.

7.75 miles. Hood route to Legacy Trail and over SWOM bridge and back. 6:15 am start. Then 2 laps around the block with Boy #1 to get to 2,000 for the year. Yes, he raced me for the last 200 meters, or so. I lost. 66 degrees. 100% hum. 65 dew point.

2018 was kind of a bummer year for me and running. Goals were missed. Training was inconsistent. Injuries. Blah blah blah. I'm not going into 2019 too eager to set new goals. But I definitely still like running in my life. I guess the best thing that I can say about running in 2018 is that I had a lot of non-running things to work out. And running is when I focused on those things. Like prayer, or therapy, but with an elevated heart rate! I am really happy I had those miles to sort through the life stuff this year. If running provides me nothing more than that in 2019, that will be fine with me.

Happy New Year, FRBers!

7.75 miles. Hood route to Legacy Trail and over SWOM bridge and back. 6:15 am start. I see no "winter" in my future. Just perpetual hot, sticky weather. Also, today there was no breeze. None.

10.2 miles. Hood route to Legacy Trail to Colonia and back. 7 a.m. start. Then we had a soccer game in Bartow. We won 4 to 2, but played just awful. We couldn't trap, shoot, or pass, but other than that, we looked pretty good. We have games out of town on both Saturday and Sunday next weekend, so I don't know how running is going to go.
