Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

Getting close to your race - looks like it'll be in time to update your Boston time with the BAA too? That's good motivation for a PR. Enjoy the rest of your taper.

Thanks guys. It is taking a tremendous amount of restraint to not make this a big deal. But, it has been 14 months and 2,600+ miles since my last marathon. I have not run a race longer than 10k since I have been on this blog!

…checking again on the point where the half splits from the full, so I don’t miss it…and check again…

…google street view of last ½ mile of course again, so I know what it looks like…

…compare runs of 7+ miles in the 30 days leading up to Steamtown to similar runs in the last 30 days, and review race expectations…

...checking water stop locations…reconsidering Gu consumption schedule...

But at the end of it all, the only pre-race strategy that will actually be implemented is this: I’m going to write 2:17 on my left arm, and try to be there at 20 miles. All of the other stuff will not even be considered during the race. I know me too well. Pre-race has high levels of thought and planning and design. The actual race will be just run, without thought. It should be a Hoot!

Sounds good! My only piece of (unsolicited) advice -- run that first half really easy; if it feels like you've barely started running at 13.1, you did it right.
