Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

10.2 miles Legacy Trail to Colonia and Back. 7:30 am start. 1:20:26. 7:53 pace. 52 deg. 58% hum. 57 d.p. I wore a shirt.

After church, I tok the boys for their last test tri before the race next weekend. To Floridians, the water was cold. But we roughed it out anyway. Since I didn't want to do this whole thing twice today, I let Tommy set the pace on the bike, as long as Johnny could set the pace on the run. (Johnny is pretty fast on the bike, and Tommy is pretty fast on the run) This worked very well for keeping us together as a group.. Both boys were equally frustrated with each other.

Next Friday is packet pickup for the kids, plus a Glow Run. Then we watch a movie outside, with the sunset over the beach. It was very cool last year. These REV3 folks have this figured out. Then Saturday morning is the kid's tri. So I'm going to get junk for miles next weekend. We'll see how this plays.

You're a good guy, I think you should get at least one of these 52F mornings a year.

From Tom K on Mon, Nov 03, 2014 at 07:26:19 from 68.56.238.126

Yes, yes. I've earned it.

Big race for you this weekend. How goes the anti-taper?

From flatlander on Mon, Nov 03, 2014 at 07:31:49 from 76.31.29.220

Not this weekend, but the 15th. Plan on the taper this time was to go very light 3 weeks out, kind of harder this week, then let off the gas pedal the last week. Always experimenting, but I think this might be pretty good, because I seem to run best when I am accelerating into a peak.

I like this plan. I'm going to steal it, for sure. I should ask you about this on your page.

Man...that sounds fun with your kids. Enjoy it while you can. I just packed my daughter up and she drove out on Saturday moving to California. They grow up fast!!!

Hope all your running is going well, I been very busy and no time to blog.
