Last morning in the keys. School starts tomorrow. This was a last trip of the summer thing for the boys, and an excuse to get me into some non red tide water. So the highlight of the trip was today, when we went to John Pennekamp State Park and went snorkeling 6 miles offshore at the Grecian Rocks Reef. It was beautiful conditions and the fish were everywhere. I mean, it was impressive. You can actually get some "street view" pictures from Google Maps.

Awesome! I'm glad you got to enjoy some down time in the water.

Thanks! We took no pictures. But everyone is going to have great memories of this trip.

I've been reading about that red tide and how it is killing everything. How much of the Florida coast is it affecting?

Great trip! And red tide, so hard to breathe.

Rhett, I can't speak for the East Coast, but the west coast is being hit from Naples to Tampa. And is slowly moving up and down the coast, coming back around. Over 2 months of this nonsense now.

That's funny! Voice to text spelled your name RAT!

TomK - You've got the "red tide" in Fla and we in Utah have the "green slimy Algibloom". In either case, what a mess! I remember way back in the late '50s early '60s when I lived in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. The swimming on the coast like at Dustin were nothing short of beautiful...

From Rhett on Wed, Aug 15, 2018 at 14:33:45 from 66.185.238.62

In October my family is going to be in Panama City, Fl. Hopefully there will be no red tide there.
