Short-Term Running Goals:

2024 GOALS:

to not get fat

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

So hopefully this is your longest run of the week? Just review my last 3 tapers and do something different, anything different.

From Tom K on Mon, Feb 16, 2015 at 07:21:59 from 73.27.178.76

The plan is: 5.5 Tuesday, off Wednesday, 5.5 Thursday, off Friday, 3 easy on course Saturday, race Sunday. It feels like over-tapering, but it's not like I'm going to get any fitter between now and race day.

From flatlander on Mon, Feb 16, 2015 at 07:35:52 from 76.31.29.220

That sounds right. Including a couple of LT miles on Tuesday or Thursday might ensure against any over-tapering, but either way you should be fine.

Flat course? I spent too much time over the weekend watching videos of Heartbreak Hill. Then I discovered it's only 1.5%. I know it occurs late in the race, but I ran a bridge that was 3.5% for almost double the distance on Saturday. Wasn't easy, but it didn't scar me for life either.

From Tom K on Mon, Feb 16, 2015 at 07:52:10 from 73.27.178.76

Double loop course. Kind of hilly, by my standards:

p.s. Heartbreak did not feel like 1.5%, and I kind of wish you hadn't told me that.

I agree with Tom, thanks a lot Flat. I wanted to start walking at the top of Heartbreak.

Looking sharp Tom, plan for this week sounds good.

From Rhett on Mon, Feb 16, 2015 at 10:26:44 from 24.121.0.8

Looks like you must be feeling better. Those were some fast ending miles for race week.

From flatlander on Mon, Feb 16, 2015 at 11:51:26 from 198.207.244.102

More wasted time, but both sides are right in a way, though Tom and Joe more than me. I will post it on my own blog instead of messing up Tom's.

From Tom K on Mon, Feb 16, 2015 at 12:16:33 from 73.27.178.76

Rhett, Feeling better, yes. I'm still spitting a lot when I run. They were faster miles than I intended, for sure. I was shooting for 7:15's!

Flat, I don't follow what you're saying, so I'm just going to put this cool beach towel here:

Very cool towel. I posted my Heartbreak analysis now.

From I Just Run on Wed, Feb 18, 2015 at 07:41:56 from 67.79.11.242

I don't even remember Heartbreak Hill. It just seemed like another bump in the road...Ob, but I was just creeping along in the race at that time!
