2023 GOALS:

Coastal Delaware Running Festival Marathon - 4/16/23 - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

I started running because someone dared me to.

"Life" kept me from running Thursday and Friday. This race is a fund raiser for the North Port Fire Department. My buddy Brian said he was going to run it, so I decided to join him. He got 2nd in his age group! I went into this race expecting to get under 21 min. So, in that respect, it went well. 2 miles up. Race started at 7:30. They had one of those videotaping drones flying overhead at the start. I hope to find that video some day. I traded places with a guy in a neon green shirt for @ 2.5 miles, then he faded behind me. I then focused on dude with american flag shirt. I got right on his heel at the 3 mile mark, and then he found another gear and left me. I was @6:15 at mile 1, @13:00 at mile 2. It was a well put on event, and Spouse has already told me that I am doing this one again next year. Great food, and a good awards ceremony after. You've got to be impressed with the fire fighters that run in these conditions in their full get-up. It was pretty humid at the start. Great day.

Nice job Tom. When the Spouse's speak.... it's best to listen :) If you find that video, I'd love to see it.

I hear ya on "life" getting in the way. Nice race!

Good job, especially in the heat. If I found a race that my wife liked I would be going every month.

Sounds great! Always fun to get in there and race people. Take that, neon green. Congrats on a good heat run.

As much as Spouse liked the race, I need to come home with a medal next time. If we're all going to get up that early to run a silly race, I have been told that I need to get "the bling." I say but I'm in a tough old-guys-hanging-on-to-their-youth age group. She says run faster. I say 14 of the top 20 finishers are older than 40. She says run faster. I should have caught american flag shirt dude. Sigh.

We're you in your trademark pale yellow shirt shaking the legs out? Left side at the start?

From Tom K on Tue, Sep 16, 2014 at 07:46:23 from 174.58.4.250

No. Left side. White Shirt, behind pink shirt. I have never seen myself running from straight down. That looks pretty goofy!

Pretty cool video.

I get super nervous for 5k's. I could see the anticipation from above.
