Short-Term Running Goals:

2023 GOALS:

Coastal Delaware Running Festival Marathon - 4/16/23 - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

7.75 miles. hood route to legacy trail over SWOM bridge and back. 8 am start. Soul sucking heat. I mean, I have run in hot weather before, but this one was bad. no breeze. no rain. but a lot of rain before and after. 89 degrees. 99% hum. 82 d.p. Steam coming up from the roadways. I knew within 50 yards that this run was going to be hard to breathe. It was like running with an undersized snorkel. It was like someone soaked a beach towel with vegetable soup and then draped it over my head and shoulders before I started running. It was like...well you get the idea. emergency bathroom stop at mcdonalds at mile 2. they were blasting frankie valli in that echo chamber bathroom.

1. i finished the run. 2 i didn't die. 3. i saw a rainbow. 4. there were no gnat clouds to run through, like usual after rains.

the kids start school tomorrow. I've got one in high school now. How did that happen?

I knew that theoretically a dew point could be that high, but I didn't know they actually happened. I'm a baby these days and if the dew point is around 70 or above I seriously question running outside (but I also don't get out early).

In 4 years you'll be saying, "I have one that graduated high school. How'd that happen?" :-)

Any thoughts on signing up for a race? I bit the bullet and signed up for a 50k. I've paid, so I guess I am now committed.

I almost couldn't believe the dew point reading either. right now - 9 am monday - 83 degree dew point. feels like 110. Mission Valley - KFLNOKOM9 on wunderground. I'm used to this stuff, and I'm still having troubles.

Yeah, I know, I need to commit to something race-wise. You're right.

JD - I think I would have called a "Rest Day" rather than run in that"!
