They all can't be "easy" runs.

Short-Term Running Goals:

2023 GOALS:

Coastal Delaware Running Festival Marathon - 4/16/23 - Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue running as often as I can, as far as I can, as fast as I can. Teaching my kids (by example) the rewards that come from putting in the work. Very slowly get to 50 states.

Personal:

I'm married, with two sons, 17, and 18.

I started running because someone dared me to.

I ran my first race 3 days after my 40th birthday. (Disney)

Gasparilla 15k. Spouse and I stayed in Ybor City. Race started @ 38 degrees with the wind chill they said before the start. I don't know if it was that cold, but the Tampa Bay Times made a big deal out of Canadians doing well out there. I fought through crowds for the first mile. Then I settled in for a while. This is my third time running this race. I always forget how much headwind is on the way back. Like stand you up headwind. How bad? My streak of races with a negative split ends in Fort Lauderdale at one.

33:29 out - 7:07 pace. 34:56 back - 7:31 pace, for a total of 1:08:25 - 7:18 pace.

All I wanted was a better pace than the A1A half. And I got that, so I'm satisfied.

Then Spouse and I spent the remainder of the day in Ybor. The cuban bread is like the stuff of legend.

Yeah, I too lost my streak of negative splits at about 10 races. It was more windy than usual. I also positive split the next day, so now I have a terrible streak going!!

Great race, and happy the sky didn't fall. It's hard to race not confident. Did you get a cuban sandwich and hang out with the local street chickens?!

I really tried to embrace the Ybor thing, but I didn't smoke any cigars!

I yelled at (cheered for) a guy I thought was you. I was on the way out, you were on the way back, backwards hat?

Nah, had on a black winter hat with a yellow rim, sleeves black shirt, and gray shorts. :(

Nice work, Tom!

Hey Tom! Wouldn't let me post to your 4 mile trail run, but glad to see you still on here. I will be in Venice May thru August ... maybe you can lead me to some good trails. I just successfully completed Immunotherapy to hopefully close the book on my 6 year battle with cancer. Would love to get together for a run when I get down there ... Jon gillette.26.2@gmail
